A good name means never having to ask "what's that?"

The name attribute is exactly what you'd think it is: what the block or item is called. The name appears in the tool tip when you mouse over a block or item. To set the block or item's name add the following line to the .item or .block file:

Simply replace the word 'example' with whatever you'd like the name of your block or item to be. You can include numbers, letters, and spaces. Unlike other string attributes, any value you care to input is valid. All that's necessary is that the entire string be within the quotation marks.

A name is one of the few attributes that's required for all types of blocks and items.

Damage Values

When the damagevalues attribute for a block is set to anything other than 0, name attribute will be the name of the block with no damage value. To name blocks with higher values, add the cooresponding number after 'name' but before the '=' as shown here:

name="first block"; //block with no damage value
damagevalues=2; //allows more blocks on the same id
name1="second block"; //block with damage value of 1
name2="third block; //block with damage value of 2
